Yesterday afternoon, I attended a tech talk hosted by ATC Intern Committee, on How to be and grow as a developer. The speeker Pung Xu is Development Manager of ATC, and really a senior software developer in MS. Here is some notes I learned in this talk.

1. Think what customer wants. You have to sell your products in order to survive. This is the essential matter faced by all software companies.

2. Design solid architecture. To get this faculty, you have to learn about broad knowledges in many areas, such as OS, Network, CG, etc, and practise more and more.

3. Build good-quality and secure product. Inferior product doesn't sell.

4. Learn and have passion for technology. I remember that one book on programming also mentioned that you have to keep learning all the time.

5. Communicate, communicate and communicate. This is also the hot topic I learned in MS2 class.

6. Learn from others, share what you know. Find a mentor and be a mentor. Try to ask for and offer help. It benefits both!

7. Take ownership.

8. Influence for results. Learn the skill to sell your ideas.

It is really a long time... I would have writen many more things.  Now I owe a lot to blog.
